Milton Ulmit "Bubba" Morgan, Jr. of Iowa passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Morgan was born and raised in Lake Charles, lived twenty years in Houston and the past twenty years in Iowa. He served in the United States Marine Corps where he received a number of awards as a Sharp Shooter. He worked his younger years in sales in the Oil and Refinery industry. Mr. Morgan also worked with the LA Highway Department and retired with nearly fifteen years with the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's Office. During his time working in the jail, he founded the "Hands Up, Not a Hand Out" program as an alternative for young people to participate in vocational training rather than serve time. He loved to sing, dance and listen to fifties music. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Morgan will be most remembered for his spirit, sense of humor and gift of making people laugh. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and Altar Society and the American Legion Post # 0001. He leaves to honor his memory his loving wife, Margie Thibodeaux Morgan of Iowa; one son, Mitchell Lane Morgan and wife Deana of Grapevine, TX; one daughter Terri Williams and husband Robert of Austin, TX, three step-children; Badeia Gadd and husband Don of Sulphur; Cynthia Guillory and husband Mathew of Westlake and Kevin Verret of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; Sabrina and McKenzie Morgan, Aidan and Duncan Williams; and step-grandchildren, Brittany Forbes, Ethan, Nicholas and Savannah Gadd, Amanda Badeaux, Shelby and Erika Guillory and Kevin Verret, Jr.; step great-granddaughter, Kylee Badeaux; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Morgan, Sr. and Alma Corbello Morgan Trahan and step-son, John Verret. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and Cursillo rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
