Memorial services in honor of Mrs. Sayes 100th birthday will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 18, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Weldon Bares will officiate. Private Graveside services were held at Highland Memory Gardens.
Minnie Mayo Troutman Sayes, 99, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2021 in a healthcare facility in Kilgore, Texas.
Mrs. Sayes was a native of Strong, AK and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked many years as a teacher for Calcasieu Parish School Board and Private Christian Schools. She found great value in teaching, both in the classroom and at home. The daughter of a Methodist Preacher, Mrs. Sayes loved the Lord, her church and being an active member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sayes also enjoyed music, singing and following her retirement, flower gardening.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Paul Troutman of Nashville, TN, Marilyn Nixon and husband Tom of Lake Charles and Lamar Troutman and wife Vickie of Green Valley, AZ; one grandchild, Robert Brinlee and wife Rachel of Huntingtown, MD and their children, Holly and Levi.
She was preceded in death by her husband and children’s father, Robert Paul Troutman; second husband, Luther Sayes; parents, Rev. Claudius and Lucinda Hoffpauir Mayo; three brothers and two sisters.
The family of Mrs. Sayes wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Rosewood Nursing Center, The Willows of Kilgore Texas and Harbor Hospice for the quality and loving care provided to their mother in her last years.
In accordance with state Covid regulations, attendees for services are respectfully requested to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
