Minunette “Ma” Theresa Hollier, 87, of Lake Charles, LA died on Monday, September 26, 2016 in a local care facility. 

 

“Ma” was born on December 17, 1928 in Lake Charles, LA to Leroy and Victoria Granger Hollier. She was a member of St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. She enjoyed Zydeco music, watching tv, and being outdoors. Ma was known for her care giving and compassionate ways to her family and babies. She was the mother figure for her family at a young age helping raise her four brothers. Church and CCD classes were held in her family home prior to St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Cynthia Burris and husband Carlton of Lake Charles, LA; two grandchildren, Alyssa Burris and Joseph Burris; like a second daughter, Vickie Jones of Lake Charles, LA; two great nieces, Angela and Amanda; and great nephew, Adam Jones; three brothers, James “Yorkie” Hollier and wife Ramanuel of Lake Charles, LA, Frank Hollier and wife Mary and Horace Hollier and wife Mary of California; and a host of close nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leroy Hollier Jr.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate services. Burial will be at Consolata cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
