Mitchell Young

Mitchell Hill Young, 67, of Westlake, LA, passed away to his eternal home early Thursday morning, December 28, 2017.

Mitchell was born February 14, 1950 and graduated from Westlake High School in 1968. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for ten years, spending most of those years onboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. He was extremely proud of his service during the Vietnam War. Mitchell attended Louisiana Tech and worked for IBM as a field technician before his early retirement. Mitchell loved computers and trains.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Harold Hill and Carolyn Appleby Young; sisters, Kathleen Beaugh and Karen Young; brother, Lewis Howard Young; nephews, David Pruitt (Elena) of Mattoon, IL, Andrew “Drew” “Joey” Pruitt (Nadine) of Chesapeake, VA and niece, Elisabeth Pruitt of Hurst, TX; two great nieces in Chesapeake, VA and several cousins and life-long friends.

His memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Oliver McGuire will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
