Mitzi Marie St. Romain

Mitzi Marie St. Romain, 92, of Lake Charles passed away at 1:30 AM on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. St. Romain was born on December 22, 1925 in Gueydan where she was raised and attended school. She also attended Souleé Secretarial School in New Orleans. Mrs. St. Romain moved to Lake Charles in 1947 and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and later became a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

She enjoyed many things in life including playing Bridge, golf, cooking and fashion. She and her husband, Chester, traveled the world and loved ballroom dancing together.

Those left to cherish her memory are eight children, Sandy St. Romain of Lake Charles, Cynthia St. Romain Gonzales (Ron) of Boerne, TX, Chet St. Romain (Susan) of Moss Bluff, Tommy St. Romain (Mary) of Lake Charles, Judy St. Romain Genova (John) of Vail, CO, Annette St. Romain (Patrick Verrette) of Holmwood, Janet St. Romain Wikman (Bert) of Sweden, and Jeanne Marie St. Romain (Fred Syre) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Lisa Lynn Greene of Dallas, TX, Gregg Greene (Leticia) of West Fork, AR, Christine Mokher (Joseph) of Tallahassee, FL, Mitzi Gonzales (Chris Velasco) of San Antonio, TX, Katherine Gonzales of Lubbock, TX, Kevin St. Romain (Jessica), Matt St. Romain (Lauren), Adam St. Romain (Megan) all of Houston, TX, Kate Alexander (Josh Dronette) and Thomas St. Romain (Cassidi) all of Lake Charles, Heather Linden (Dan) of Bermuda, Eric Genova (Justine) of Houston, TX, Gary Paul Carriere (Melissa Le Carriere) of Lake Charles, Christopher Carriere (Jessica Brown Carriere) and Juliana Carriere-Marcantel (Matthew) all of Holmwood, Treavor Carriere (Priscilla Garcia Carriere) of LeBleu Settlement, Jake and Nick Verrette of Lake Charles, Sarah Wikman (Emil) and Christian Wikman all of Sweden; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Cadie Greene of Oxford, MS, Bayleigh Jordan Greene of West Fork, AR, Jonathan and Lauren Mokher of Tallahassee, FL, Matthew, Jace, Makayla, Audryna, and Carter St. Romain all of Houston, TX, Eli and Owen Alexander, Joselyn and Jackson Dronette all of Lake Charles, Austin and Luke Linden of Bermuda, Blair Genova of Houston, TX, Jhett and Blaise Carriere of Lake Charles, Jordyn Carriere of Holmwood, Mia, Rey, and Jak Carriere of LeBleu Settlement. She also leaves behind a sister, Cindy Privat of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez and George Gardiner; husband of 52 years, Dr. Chester St. Romain; and brother, George Gardiner.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Anthony M. Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday from 11:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM.
