Mona Duhon

Mona Lynn Stutes Duhon, 74, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on June 30, 1950, in Crowley, LA, to Phorbus Stutes and Delta Gaspard Stutes.

A proud member of the Krewe Des Pirates, she was crowned "Queen Jacqueline the First" in 2011, alongside her husband, Johnny, as King. Mona loved gardening, shopping, and reading her Bible. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her beloved husband, Johnny Duhon; her children, Shawn Duhon (Jessica), Lisa Chenier (Mike), and Julie Hagen (Billy); her grandchildren, Cameron Duhon, Kayla Chenier, Michael Chenier, McKenzie Castillo, and Johnathon Duhon; her fur baby, Maya; her brother, David Stutes (Aziza); and her sister, Sylvia Murrell (Gerald); and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, and many friends who became family. To know Mona was definitely to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Delores Hodges; and her brother, Gene "G.R." Stutes.

Mona's funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Rev. Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will follow in Duhon Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 12, and will resume at 11:00 AM on Thursday, continuing until the service begins at 1:00 PM.

Pallbearers are, Cameron Duhon, Johnathon Duhon, Joshua Reasoner, Ricky Vincent, Logan Vincent, and Michael Chenier.
