Eldis Myrle “Moose” Hebert, 63, of Big Lake, passed away Wednesday August 4, 2021 in the comfort of his sister’s home, surrounded by his brother and sisters.
Mr. Hebert was born February 2, 1958 to Myrle George Hebert and Patricia Brock Hebert in Lake Charles. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Lake. He worked his younger years as a Butcher for George Theriot’s, for a short while owned and drove an 18-Wheeler, hauling offshore oilfield equipment and nearly thirty years in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He worked as long as he was physically able: well-trained with many certifications, well skilled and respected in his industry and a loyal employee of 24 years to Roy Bailey Construction. Mr. Hebert was a simple man that enjoyed the simpler side of life, focusing most on time shared with family and friends, fishing, hunting, camping, target shooting, and playing cards. Some of his greatest times were sitting around the kitchen and cooking with his son. He will be most remembered as a humble man with a kind heart, great pride and work ethic, stubborn with a bit of a mystery.
He leaves to honor his memory, his son, Chance Eldis Hebert of Winslow, AZ; granddaughter, Shyla Rayne Hebert of Winslow, AZ; two sisters, Wanda Hebert and Debet Hebert, both of Grand Lake; brother, Myles Hebert of Big Lake; half-brother, Gary Bertrand of Lafayette; nieces and nephews, Patrice Renee Guillory, Matthew Guillory, Clint Guillory, Recia Ann Guillory, Miranda Oliver, Lucas Hebert, Elisha Hebert and Trent Hebert; lifelong friends, Richard Hebert of Little Chenier and Aaron Savoie of Sweetlake and his fur baby, Creole.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tina Hebert and niece, Lacey Broussard.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 PM Monday August 09, 2021 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Interment services will follow at Sweetlake - Grand Lake Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at University Baptist Church. Visitation will resume Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at University Baptist.
