Morris Ray Helmer, 55, passed away on July 11, 2015 in a local hospital. He was born and raised in Sulphur and a graduate of Sulphur High School. Morris was a 22 year resident of Hackberry and worked for 29 years in the Shelter and Tarver Ford Dealerships. He was president of the Louisiana Meat and Goat Association and president of the Cameron Parish Livestock Advisory Board. He raised show goats, enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Morris loved being with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Morris is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathy Kyle Helmer; his daughter, Kelsey Helmer both of Hackberry; his parents, Frances and Clifford Helmer of Sulphur; his sister, Desiree' Helmer DaLomba of Magnolia Springs, AL; his brother, Royce Helmer of Sulphur; two brother-in-laws, Kenny and Scott Kyle; and his mother-in-law, Verna L. Kyle of Hackberry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Father Gijo Ikkaramatton officiating. Burial will be New Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 5-10 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 8 A.M. until time of the service.
