Murrel John Matte, 69, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 1:40 PM on Monday, April 13, 2015 in his residence. Mr. Matte was born August 6, 1945 in Lake Charles, LA and was a life-long resident of Lake Charles. He retired as a supervisor for Lafayette Drug Company after thirty-five years of service. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending time with his boys and his family at the camp. His adored his grandchildren and his great-grandchild and loved to spoil them as much as he could. Mr. Matte is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Karen English Matte; sons, Mark Matte and wife Dawn and Greg Matte and wife Colleen, all of Lake Charles; brother, Leon Matte: sister, Mary Matte Broussard; step-brothers, Harry Aguillard and Jimmy Aguillard; step-sisters, Virgie Marceaux and Anna Bell Taylor; grandchildren, Alaina Rose Matte, Kaleb Emile Matte and Abby Laurence Matte; and great-grandchild, Finlee Rose Courville. He was preceded in death by his father, Raoul Matte; mother, Nora Bell Matte Aguillard; step-father, Emile Aguillard; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Matte; and step-brother, Buster Aguillard. His memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Nixon will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be held on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
