Mymae Marie Savoie, 85, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born and raised in Creole, Louisiana, to Leva Duhon and Nita Broussard Duhon on March 22, 1940.
Mymae found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gambling, especially at Coushatta, Isle of Capri, and the Golden Nugget. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch, watching cows, counting the calves, and sharing her count with her great-grandson, Jayson. A true outdoorswoman, she delighted in turtle hunting-or as she called it, "riding".
While she was known as Mom and Grandmother, the title she treasured most was "Maw Maw Mymae."
She is survived by her son, James Savoie (TuTu); her grandchildren, Michael Paul and Racissa Savoie; her great-grandson, Jayson Clyde Savoie; and her dear friends, Tiny Benoit, Brenda VanAtten, Chad Arceneaux, and Renella Boudreaux.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Her husband John Clyde Savoie; her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Bertha Duhon; and her beloved daughter, Johnette Savoie.
A Funeral Mass will be held on April 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, Louisiana, with a graveside service to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Reverend Jerish George, M.O.C., will serve as celebrant.
Visitation will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a Rosary at noon, led by the Catholic Daughters Court St. Katharine Drexel, Creole.
Mymae's feisty spirit, loving heart, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
