Myrna Bond

Dr. Myrna Bond, 86, of Lake Charles died at 7:30 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in a local care facility.

Dr. Bond was born on December 21, 1925 in Eastland, TX and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and earned her under graduate degree and a Doctor of Education degree at McNeese State University. She then became a long time educator both in classrooms and with the Louisiana State Department of Education. Dr. Bond belonged to the PEO Chapter BA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in Sunday school as well as the DMA group.

She enjoyed many things in life, including playing bridge, traveling, theater, and a continuous ambition to learn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Connie Hay and husband Gene of Lake Charles; a son, Robert Vance Stewart of Florence, OR; two grandchildren, Heidi Rowley of Baton Rouge and Ryan Hay of Houston; two great grandchildren, Caroline and Eliza Rowley both of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Liles; a husband, Billy E. Bond; a brother, Ralph Liles; and a sister, Geneva Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23, 2012 at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Louis Blankenbaker will officiate. Visitation will be in the church from 9:30 AM until the start of the service. Inurnment will take place privately in the church columbarium following the service.
