Nancy Dalovisio Nezzio, 95, of Lake Charles died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in a local hospital with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Nezzio was born on August 9, 1916 to the parents of Joe and Pasque Maggiore Dalovisio. She was a life-long resident of Lake Charles, and a 1934 graduate of Lake Charles High School. She worked for 20 years at Christus St. Patrick Hospital, where she was a member of the first graduating class of Ward Clerks. She was also a member of Amicus Club, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Mrs. Nezzio was a longtime Pink Lady at St. Patrick Hospital Lady at the hospital for many years. Mrs. Nezzio was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Nezzio Smith and husband Hunter of Lake Charles; one son, W.P. (Bill) Nezzio and wife Carolyn of Thibodaux; three sisters, Pauline Keith of Las Vegas, NV, Dida Graves of Baton Rouge, and Joann Vinson and husband John of Houston; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Nezzio; her parents; one daughter, Dr. Ann Nezzio Weaver; four brothers, Bennie, Robert, Pete and Felix Dalovisio; and one sister, Sara Niel.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Jace Eskind will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8 AM until 9:30 AM.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ronald Lewis and Dr. Garrett Ryder for being so dedicated and unselfish in their care of our mother. The family would also like to thank Rosewood Nursing Center for the years of their compassionate care.
