Nancy Irene Constance

May 15, 1948 — April 28, 2023

Nancy Trahan Constance, 74, of Jennings, Louisiana passed away on April 28, 2023 at a local hospital. Nancy was a cafeteria cook for Johnson Bayou High School and John Paul Crain Hunting camp, but her passion was homemaking where she flourished in cooking, sewing and gardening. She was a homemaker at heart and passed on her love for cooking, sewing and gardening to her kids and grandkids. If you’ve never had her rice and gravy, biscuits and gravy, or red velvet cake, you have truly missed out. She showed her love in the kitchen and all were welcome. No one made coffee milk quite like Maw Maw. Three hot meals a day, a lot of front porch rocking with her fresh ice tea, picking seashells, and eating ice cream. She didn’t ask for much because she knew life’s most treasured possession was family. She spent countless hours sewing clothes, bibs, blankets and quilts for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Nancy is remembered for her gentle, and quiet spirit, but was not afraid to chase armadillos out of her flower beds with a shotgun or baseball bat.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Johnny B. Constance, Jr (natives of Johnson Bayou, LA); 1 son, John B. Constance III (Brittney) of Fannett, TX; 3 daughters, Sandra Wilson (Dwayne) of Jennings, LA, Sarah Soluren (Robert) of Houston, TX, and Rachel Simon (Jerrett) of Jennings, LA; 12 grandchildren, Blue Constance, Gabe Constance, Matthew Bourgeois, Christian Stelly, Joshua Bourgeois, Hannah Wilson, Joel Wilson, Wyatt Brown, Madeiline Soluren, Caleb Soluren, Alyssa Simon, and McKenzie Simon; 11 Great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Robert Trahan (Connie), Darrell Trahan and Betty Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Irene Trahan of Johnson Bayou.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m.  at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Pickett officiating. Visitations will be Tuesday, May 2nd from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and  Wednesday, May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at Head of the Hollow Cemetery in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana.
