Nancy Legendre

Nancy Marshall Legendre, was born May 8, 1953, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Harry and Minerva LeBlanc Marshall. She passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was 71 years old. 

Nancy attended DeRidder High School, graduating in 1971, and went on to study at McNeese State University. She was a talented self-taught artist and pianist, and former member of the Impromptu Players Little Theatre in DeRidder. Nancy was affiliated with both the Catholic and Methodist religions. 

She had a passion for traveling and was eagerly looking forward to future adventure in retirement. Above all. Nancy cherished her family and friends, especially her beloved grandsons.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Minerva LeBlanc Marshall; her sister, Kathy Marshall; her father-in-law, Percy Legendre, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Bridget Legendre Darlington.

She is survived by her loving husband, Reginald Legendre; her son, Marshall Richard; her daughter, Katie (Justin) Governale; her grandsons, Luke Governale and Ryan Governale. She also leaves behind her brother, Rick (Cindy) Marshall; her sisters, Renee Marshall and Susan (Reggie) Reed; her nieces, Katherine Marshall, Allyson (Doug) Littell, and Caitlyn Reed; and nephew, Quinton Reed.  

Nancy is also survived by her mother-in-law, Elaine Legendre; her brothers-in-law, Percy (Lynn) Legendre, III and Andy (Rhonda) Darlington; and her sisters-in-law, Lynette (Mark) Eliser, Angie (Colt) James, Natalie (Tony) Harper, Elaine (John) Curley, Lenore Charlton and Helen Bohan. 

Nancy will be deeply missed by her extended family and many friends. 

A Funeral Service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Friday March 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with Rev. Laraine Waughtal officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM Friday until the time of service. Private inurnment services will be at a later date. 

As to Nancy’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
