Nancy Lee Philmon "Cookie" Cookson, 79, of Ragley, LA died at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012 in a local care facility.
Ms. Cookson was born May 31, 1933 in Warren, TX and has lived in Westlake / Lake Charles for sixty years before moving to Ragley a few years ago. She was a 1952 graduate of Marion High School and worked as a collector at Lake Charles Credit Bureau for over twenty-five years, until retiring in 1998. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and cooking. Her passion was always for her family. She will always be remembered as a loving, kind, and patient person who was always willing to help others. She lived by her faith in Christ.
Ms. Cookson is survived by her daughter, Tina Hollingshead Pardo of Ragley; brothers, Larry Philmon and wife Dorothy of Okanogan, WA, Buddy Philmon and wife Jo of Sweeny, Texas and Jimmy Philmon and wife Dickie of Carlyss, LA; sisters, Shirley Anne Cooley and husband Dennis of Moss Bluff and Wanda Sue Downs and husband Carl of Clear Lake, TX; grandchildren, Doron and Paul Pardo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Armoulia and Vada Umfrid Philmon; son, Larry Dennis Hollingshead; and former husband and father of her children, Jesse James Hollingshead.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 12:00 PM.
