Ned Joseph Dugas, 81 of Lake Charles, LA passed away in the comfort of his home July 3, 2023.
He was one of three children born to Leopold Joseph and Marguerite Edia Dugas. He was born August 28, 1941 in New Iberia, LA.
He came from humble beginnings, learning the importance of faith, family, and an honest days work. As a Polio survivor, he knew his faith in God is what brought him through. He was devout in his Catholic faith, also serving as an alter server.
In his younger years and into high school he helped his parents on the family farm and the grocery store his father started; Polo’s Food Store. A store he would inherit and run for many years following his fathers retirement.
In 1982 he and Ellen moved to Lake Charles, he began working as a hot shot driver for Ace Transportation. When he was not on the road he enjoyed watching old movies, relaxing at home, and being a wealth of knowledge to his nieces and nephews, whom he treated as his own children. He will best be remembered for his giving, kind, and gentle soul.
He was preceded in passing by his wife of forty-years, Ellen Christine Dugas; his parents; a brother, Wayne P. Dugas; mother in-law, Sheron and Arthur F. O’Quinn; brother in-laws, Michael Pousson, Theo Pousson, and Paul Pousson.
Those left to cherish his memory, sister, Paula L. Guilbeau and husband Charles; nephew, Christian Thibodeaux; sister in-law, Ruby Dugas; niece and caregiver, Christina Manuel and husband Carl.
Liturgical services led by Father Anthony Pousson in chapel of Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 1:30pm, burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation to be held in chapel of Johnson Funeral Home Tuesday July 11, 2023 beginning 11am to 1pm. A Rosary to be prayed at 1pm.
