Nelma Fruge Croker, 78, of Lake Charles died at 5:48 AM Thursday, October 11, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Croker was born on January 18, 1934 to the parents of Lloyd and Hazel Fruge in Crowley, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Crowley High School. Mrs. Croker worked as a PBX Operator for A-1 Answering service for 15 years. She was also a care giver for Home Instead Senior Care in the 1990's. Nelma loved to travel around Louisiana and the world touring with her husband that played with the Hackberry Ramblers. She also loved spending time with her family, and on holidays cooking and entertaining for them.
Mrs. Croker was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, James Glen Croker.
She is survived by two sons, Victor Vaughn and wife Loretta of Baton Rouge, LA and Vince Vaughn and wife Renay of Westlake, LA, two daughters, Vicki Vaughn of Lake Charles, LA and Valerie Vaughn of Lake Charles, LA, two stepsons, Mike Croker of Clearwater, FL, and James Chip Croker, II of Lake Charles, LA, three step daughters, Paula Smythe and husband Dr. Marck of Big Lake, LA, Geri Prince and husband Raymond of Longview, TX, Mary Beth Charlee Walling and husband Ted of Vidor, TX, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Bill Miller will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of services.
