Nelma Marie Thibodeaux Duplechin, 87, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:47 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in her residence. Mrs. Duplechin was born August 31, 1927 in Church Point, LA, where she was raised and has lived in Lake Charles for the past sixty-five years. She was a member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and was a member of the Cajun French Music Association. Mrs. Duplechin was an owner / operator of French's Café, Nell's Lounge, and the Midway Café. She loved to spend time with her family and also enjoyed playing Bingo and yard work. Mrs. Duplechin is survived by her daughter, Theresa Gertrude Vidrine and husband Larry; sons, Donald R. Duplechin and wife Jean, Robert Duplechin and wife Linda, and Eddie Duplechin and wife Pat, all of Lake Charles; siblings, Marie Trahan, Betty Cormier and husband Lee, and Juanita Latiolais; brother-in-law, Sherman Duplechin; grandchildren, Ronald and Mark Monceaux, Dena Watson, Jeannie Daigle, James, Joshua, and Robin Duplechin, April Pretto, Stacy Moon, Crystal Anderson, Jennifer Price and Larry Vidrine, Jr.; twenty great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Duplechin, siblings, Beverly Lejeune, Judy Ann Daigle, and John Carol, Euel, and Rodney Thibodeaux; and sister-in-law, Della Thibodeaux. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Father Rommel Tolentino will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM till 9:30 AM. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to her caregivers, Joyce Spears, Brenda Edwards, Brittney Edwards, Karli Monceaux, and the staff of Heart of Hospice for all of the care, love, and compassion they showed.
