Nettie Fay Goodman

Nettie Fay Goodman, 81, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 3:45 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Goodman was born May 1, 1938 in Lake Charles to the union of Pete and Palmier Derouen Janise.  Nettie was a faithful member of St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff.  She was an office clerk at Lakeside Laundry, and sales clerk at Brousse’s Toyland.  She was treasurer for the Gulf Coast CB Club, and her handle was “Coffee Cup.”  She was considered family by her neighbors, and was well known as the “neighborhood watch lady,” and she always let her neighbors know when their mail and packages arrived.  She was a person who was always there for you, and she always showed up early.  Nettie was eager to help anyone in need, and often initiated fundraisers to help others.  She loved video games, bingo, facebook and cruises.  She was very active, and was able to do cartwheels at age 75.

Mrs. Goodman is survived by her children, David Allen Goodman of Jacksonville, FL, Ronald James Goodman (Patricia) of Ragley, LA, Pamela Fay Goodman of Lake Charles, LA; brother, J.D. Janise of Carencro, LA; sister Joyce Jessen of Sulphur, LA; grandchildren, Matthew Lee Goodman, Katelynn Duhon (Adam), Karlee Campbell (Kyler), and Alaina Guidry; great grandchildren, Brooks, Grant, Bently, and Caroline.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar "Sonnie" Goodman, her parents, her brothers, Wilbert, Evans, Allen, Alton, James, and her sister, Delores Fontenot.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
