Newellyn Ann Naumann Roberts

Newellyn Ann Naumann Roberts, 88, of Moss Bluff, LA, passed away at on Saturday, July 2, 2022 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Roberts was born November 28, 1933 in Lake Charles, where she grew up and graduated from Lake Charles High School.  She retired from Chase Bank, where she worked in banking for many years.  One thing she always made time for was her family, friends and her church.  She was a very active and devoted member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Altar Society, sponsor for RCIA, and volunteered as a lay minister.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Sonnier (Denise); daughters, Karen Sonnier Hagen, Ruth Ange (Henry) and Pamela Dowden (David); thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd Kennith Roberts; parents, Newell and Olive “Augusta” Naumann; sons, Richard Sonnier and Kenneth Roberts; daughter, Debbie Duhon; brother, William Naumann; and two infant great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Heart of Hospice and her numerous caregivers for all of their compassionate care.

Her funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.  Burial will follow in Ritchie Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
