Newton Dalton Lyons, 90, of Lake Charles, LA died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Newton was born on August 21, 1924 in Sulphur, LA to Newton and Murdee Lyons. Mr. Newton was born and raised in Sulphur, LA and was a 1941 graduate of Sulphur High School. He proudly served our country in the US Army in World War II in Europe and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He retired after 30 years of service as an electrician from Conoco in 1985. He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Newton enjoyed deer hunting, camping, family get-togethers and bbq's. Mr. Newton loved traveling to New Orleans and to Europe with his wife Mildred. He is survived by one son Rickie Lyons and wife Billie of Amherst, VA; two daughters, Linda Webb and husband Bobby of Lake Charles, LA and Patty Murray and husband Bob of Lake Charles, LA; and 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years Mildred Ellender Lyons; his parents; and two sisters, Beaulah Coley Firmature and Lucy Belle Lewis. Services will be 1:30 PM Friday, July 3, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM Friday, July 3, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bigwoods Cemetery. Rev. Greg Bath will officiate services. A special thanks to Amedisys hospice, especially Jessie Edgerton, Laurelle Shirley, Callie East, Vicki Neeley, and Brenda Fontenot. The family also extends their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers Emma Prudhomme, Rhonda Bilbo and Teresa Drake.
