September 24, 1994 — August 25, 2017

Nicholas Alan Van Weele, 22, of Moss Bluff, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Nicholas was born on September 24, 1994, in Wellington, FL, and moved to Moss Bluff with his family in 1998, where he attended Sam Houston High School.  He loved the outdoors, where he could fish and ride four wheelers and dirt bikes, but also enjoyed being indoors drawing and playing computer games.  He had a kind and giving heart, as well as a soft spot for animals, especially his cat companion, Midnight.  Nicholas will be remembered by all for his winning personality and smile. His family will miss their supportive, wonderful, and loving son, brother, grandson, and nephew who will live on in their hearts forever.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Alan Peter Van Weele, Jr. of Moss Bluff and Kimberly Hamm Martin (Thomas) of Tennessee; sister, Kaylee Susan Van Weele of Moss Bluff; step brother, Jacob Arnold of Tennessee; paternal grandparents, Barbara Ann and Alan Peter Van Weele, Sr. of Moss Bluff; paternal aunts and uncles, Donna Marie Van Weele Trache (James) of Florida, Caroline Van Weele Babineaux (Scott) of Moss Bluff, and Jonathan Adam Van Weele of Moss Bluff; maternal aunts and uncles, Dawn Hamm and Lawrence Hamm, Jr. both of Florida; and cousins, Blaine Babineaux and Justin CdeBaca both of Moss Bluff, Taylor Trache of Lafayette, Carmen Babineaux and her daughters, Adalee and Lillian of Moss Bluff, and Torrey Daniels, Torreyon Daniels, Arya Hudson, Domaiya Pettigrew, and Rowan Hudson all of Florida.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Susan and Lawrence Hamm, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2017, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate.  Private burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.  Visitation will begin on Wednesday, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
