Nickie Sue Arabie, 81, of DeRidder died Sunday March 25, 2012 in the comfort of her home.
She was born in DeRidder and lived in Lake Charles a number of years while raising her family. She was a homemaker and very active member of Broadlands Bible Church in DeRidder and in Christian missions, including Camp Pearl and medical mission trips to foreign countries such as Mexico and Honduras. She was devoted not only to her faith, but also her family, especially her grandchildren, each of them accompanied her on trips, both far and near. She was a pillar in the moral foundation of her grandchildren, prayed for them daily and played a large role in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Austin Arabie Sr. and daughter Jeanne Ellen Arabie. Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Austin Arabie, Jr. of DeRidder; two daughters, Suzanne Cronce, DeRidder and Melanie Calloway, Sulphur; six grandchildren, Randy Arabie, Brain Arabie, Chad Cronce, Aleta Beth Cronce, Mandi Thebner, and Matthew Calloway; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yda Leger, Denham Springs and Shirley Kay Duhon, Lake Charles.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM today, Tuesday March 27, at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the service time of 1:00 PM at Broadlands Bible Church in DeRidder. The Revs. Tim Bergen and Mark Land will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Gardens in Lake Charles.
