Nila June Batchelor

Nila June Batchelor, 78, of Lake Charles died at 7:04 PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in her residence.

Mrs. Batchelor was born on June 8, 1932 in Haleyville, AL and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a housewife, raising six children.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Travis W. "Tab" Batchelor of Lake Charles; six children, Jan Batchelor Shell of Texas, Travis R. Batchelor, Rev. Ricky J. Batchelor, and Jerry Michael Batchelor of Iowa, Randy W. Batchelor of Texas, and Mark W. Batchelor of Lake Charles; two brothers, James B. Mays of Popular Bluff, MO and Jimmy Mays of Sterling, IL; fifteen grandchildren; and too many to count great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nola Kimbrough and James Burl Mays; and a brother, Jerry Mays.

She was seen by others to be a kind and humble woman, tall and elegant, classyspeaking with long and slow southern drawl. She was loved and admired by many and will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 27, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Her son, Rev. Ricky Batchelor will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
