Nina Louise Simon

Nina L. Simon, 86, of Starks, Louisiana died at 4:00 AM Sunday, April 27, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Simon was born on May 27th, 1927 in Starks, LA, to Nathaniel and Ruby Mae Hyatt. She was a lifelong resident of Starks, Louisiana. Mrs. Simon was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church in Starks. She loved her children, grandchildren, and enjoyed watching old westerns. She was honored by her church for having the most children attend church. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Simon (Dewana and first wife Katherine) of Starks, LA, Ewell "Bully" John Simon (Sandy), of Starks, LA, and James Simon(Sandra and first wife Donna), Jr., of Starks, LA; three daughters, Hilda Says (Tim) of Starks, LA, Virginia White (Garlin) of Starks, LA., and Linda Smith of Starks, LA; one brother, Nathan Hyatt (Patsy) of Starks, LA; two sisters, Marie Johnson (C.J.) of Starks, LA., and Evelyn DeGelormo (Bobby) of Starks, LA; sixteen grand children, forty-one great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ewell John Simon, Sr; one granddaughter, Teri Louise Smith; two grandsons, Ronnie Hyatt and Christopher Routte. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Calvary Apastolic Church in Starks, LA, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Jeremy Shields will officiate. Burial will be in the VFW cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 5:00 PM until 9 PM, and will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
