Nina Teague Oliver, 87, of Lake Charles died at 10:52 AM Friday, October 21, 2011 in a local hospital.
Born in Haynesville, Louisiana to Rager and Edna Camp Teague, Mrs. Oliver was a 1941 graduate of Haynesville High School. After graduation she married the love of her life, J.T. Oliver, and together they moved to Lake Charles and set up their home and raised their daughter, Frances, who was their joy and delight. Mrs. Oliver was the owner and operator of Nina's Beauty Shop from the early 1950's until 1971. She was a member of University United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Oliver greatly enjoyed farming, as exemplified by having been honored with the Calcasieu Parish Farmer of the Year Award at one time. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, and caring for her camellias, but her greatest joy was in spending every moment she could with her precious grandchildren, J. T. Peloquin and Jace Peloquin.
Mrs. Oliver is survived by her beloved daughter, Frances Peloquin and husband Jerry of Lake Charles; the lights of her life, her two grandchildren, J. T. and Jace Peloquin; one sister, Nurlie Foster of Haynesville, LA; grandchildren of her heart, Steven Devall and wife Sadie, also of Lake Charles, Shannon Atkinson and husband Tommy of Pineville, LA; and four great grandchildren, Lakeyn Devall, Kyle Devall, Ashlyn Atkinson and Nick Atkinson.
Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by the love of her life, J. T. Oliver.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Charles Langford will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 until 9:00 PM and continue on Sunday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
