Norma "Jolene" Bankhead Broussard

November 11, 1929 — March 20, 2022

Norma “Jolene” Bankhead Broussard, wife of Charles Coy Broussard, passed on to be with her Lord on March 20, 2022, at home with loving family at the age of 92. She was born on November 11, 1929, in Luling, Texas, the daughter of William Howard and Cordelia Whiddon Bankhead. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and worked for the Louisiana Department of Education, Esso Refinery in Baton Rouge and Cities Service Refinery in Sulphur until taking time off to raise her family after which she began working as a legal secretary for her husband’s law office in 1975. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, a member since 1950 of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of the “Silver Singers” and the Red Hat Society. One of the most cherished memories of Jolene is “she listened with her heart.”

   Jolene is survived by three daughters and four sons and their spouses: Michelle Honick, Rene E. “Bubba” Broussard, Denise Frey and husband Joe, Remy W. Broussard and wife Nancy, Justin Broussard, Charlotte A. Peterson, and Jacques A. Broussard and wife Kelli. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. William H. “Bill” Bankhead, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of Baton Rouge, LA.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Broussard; her father, William Howard Bankhead, her mother, Cordelia Bankhead; two grandsons, Jobey Peterson and Aaron Broussard; and a son in law, Bruce Honick.

 Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, March 25, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South beside her husband and grandson, Aaron. Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate services.
