Nyhla M. Hawes, 88, of Lake Charles, LA died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in a local care facility. Nyhla was born on May 30, 1927 in Lake Charles, LA to Marion and Myrtle Musgrove. She was a 1944 graduate of Lake Charles high school and member of the marching Kilties. Nyhla enjoyed being around family and friends, traveling, and competing in ball room dancing. Nyhla was also a member of the Insurance Women of America and a member of Lake Charles Bible Church. She is survived by three children, Ava Dotson and husband Keith of Houston, TX, Billy Ray Wagster and wife Liz of Lake Charles, LA, and Patty Porter of Waco, TX; one brother, Paul Musgrove and wife Avis of Sulphur, LA; one brother-in-law, Robert Greason; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; second cousin, James Romagosa of Lafayette, LA. Nyhla is preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew Zodak Hawes; two sisters, Francis “Frankie” Greason and Avanell Chronister; and Parents. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, November 23, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00 AM until service time at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Don Barret will officiate services. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens.
