Odell Paul Lavigne, Sr.

May 9, 1949 — October 16, 2024

Mr. Odell Paul Lavigne Sr., 75, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his beautiful wife, Linda.

Odell was a devoted husband, father, and a proud Vietnam veteran. He graduated from James Stevens High School in Ville Platte, LA, and retired from Solari Marble Works after many years of employment. He was known for his strong belief in God and was truly the patriarch of his family. Odell was a man of integrity, honesty, and kindness, and he earned the respect and love of everyone who knew him.

Odell was also very humorous and enjoyed hosting cookouts with family and friends. He welcomed people from all walks of life, never turning away anyone in need, especially those who were hungry. His generosity came from the heart, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He took great pleasure in fishing, hunting, and cooking—and was skilled in all of these activities. Odell will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.

Odell is survived by his loving wife, Linda Collins Lavigne of Lake Charles, LA; his three children: Katina Lacy (Edwin), Odell Lavigne Jr. (Diana), and Jeremie Lavigne (Andrea); his two cherished grandchildren, Spencer and Charlotte; three brothers: Paul Lavigne (Cynthia), Gene Lavigne, and Gerald Lavigne (Sandra), all of Ville Platte, LA; two sisters: Marie Lavigne Newman (Curley) of Ville Platte, LA, and Cynthia Lavigne Reed Jackson (Charles) of Lake Charles, LA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kernis John Lavigne Sr. and Nora Marie Malveaux Lavigne, and five siblings: Kernis Lavigne Jr., Gerard C. Lavigne, Dennis L. Lavigne Sr., Nazy D. Lavigne, and Curtis J. Lavigne.

The Lavigne family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Johnson Funeral Home and Amedisys Hospice, along with their staff, for their exceptional and professional services during this difficult time.

Visitation will be to the public on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, in Lake Charles.
