Odile Mouton

July 27, 1920 — February 12, 2012

Odile Rita Savoy Mouton, 91, was born in St. Martinville, LA on July 27, 1920. She lived most of her life in Lake Charles, LA. God called her to her resting place and to serve him on February 12, 2012. She passed away in a local nursing home facility surrounded by her loved ones.

This is not only Odile's obituary but we wrote this as a tribute to her and the gift that God has instilled in us all "THE GIFT OF LOVE." Odile will be dearly missed and remembered in the hearts of family and friends. She was employed by Bowl Arena (Sports Center USA) for thirty-four years loving and caring for children in the nursery. She was a dedicated church member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church.

We cared for her with the same care and love she showed us. "Dementia" slowly over took her life. Sadly, her care began to require more medical assistance so a difficult decision was made. Placing her in a nursing home was tough for us all but we made sure she was loved, pampered, cherished and treated well.

We would like to stress to all reading this obituary and tribute God's Commandment to "Love One Another." God stated, "Whatever you do for the least of my brother, you do unto me." God's greatest gift is love. Nursing home stays can be hectic at times due to various reasons. To all who have loved ones in a care facility we encourage you to be a part of their everyday living and care. Their lives depend on you.

We should have no regrets for we made daily visits to show her the love we hold so deeply in our hearts. As we watched her grow weaker with each passing day we thank God for blessing us each in every way. We knew God granted her special graces each and every waking day. God now has prepared Odile a special resting place. We will hold on to memories and remember each day right from the start that she is forever in our hearts.

We pray that eternal rest granted unto Odile Mouton and her loved ones who have gone before her and who now have greeted her: husband Ray J. Mouton, daughter Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" Mouton and her parents Julien Savoy and Camilla Bonin Savoy, her sisters Anna Mae Savoy Derouen and Margaret "Git" Savoy Mouton Mire, grandson Chuck Babineaux, nephews Gregory Derouen, Darrel Derouen and Doris Nunez, and nieces Joy Mouton Blanchard and Brenda Derouen Raimer.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sandra Hebert and husband Robert Lee Hebert, Sr. of Grand Lake, LA and Deborah Pendarvis and husband Richard of Tampa, FL; sister, Ethel Savoy of St. Martinville, LA; six grandchildren, Bobby Hebert and wife Tammy, Mike Hebert and wife Kelly, Kevin Hebert and wife Becky, Lynn Babineaux Thomas and husband Bryan, Jean Thomas and husband Tony, Eric Pendarvis and wife Kim; fourteen great-grandchildren, Courtney and Lakeyn Thomas, Jackie Babineaux Hebert and husband Chris, Kimmie, Katelyn and Chuck Babineaux, Tyler, Lauren, Lucas, Micah, Jayce, Matthew, Randy and Scott Hebert and wife Krystal; one great-great-grandchild, Kamryn Hebert; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Reverend William "Bill" Miller, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, 6325 Gulf Hwy, Lake Charles, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Peter Karam and nurse Kathy, Christus St. Patrick Hospice employees, especially Roxanne, Justin, and Elaine. Thank you to the employees at the local nursing home who patiently cared for Odile.
