Ogden Abshire, 92, of Lake Charles, Louisiana was called to his Heavenly home surrounded by his loving family at 4:30 PM on Monday, July 1, 2013.
Mr. Abshire was born on July 8, 1920 in Crowley, Louisiana and resided in Lake Charles most of his life. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Boyce Machinery for 32 years. Mr. Abshire attended Glad Tidings Church and St. Theodore Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Abshire played the guitar with Papa Joe Cairo and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Abshire was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Inglis Abshire and a son, Tony Abshire.
Those left to cherish his memory are: 1 daughter in law, 1 daughter, and 2 sons: Linda Abshire of Crowley, LA, Carolyn and husband John Allen of Irving, TX, Travis and wife Mary Cormier of Lake Charles, LA, and Allen and wife Suzanne Abshire of Lake Charles, LA; eleven grandchildren, Butch Abshire, Chad Abshire, Cory Abshire, Van Allen, Barry Allen, John Allen III, Michael Cormier, Helen Burleigh, Ronnie Cormier, Karen Seal, and Brian Abshire; twenty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will follow in Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
