Ora Lavergne Royer

Ora Lucille Lavergne Royer, 82, of Lake Charles, LA died at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in a local hospital.

Born July 24, 1930 in Mire, LA, Mrs. Royer married her husband of sixty-two years, Orelian Royer on February 3, 1951 and moved to Lake Charles where they have resided since. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her daylilies. She also loved spending time with her family over Sunday dinners. She will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother, whose family meant everything to her.

Mrs. Royer is survived by her husband, Orelian Royer of Lake Charles; sons, Darrel Royer and wife Polly of Fulshear, TX, Mike Royer and wife Lois of Humble, TX, and Billy Royer and wife Jackie of Lake Charles; daughter, Peggy Smith of Katy, TX; brothers, Harold Lavergne and wife Loretta of Lake Charles and E. L. Lavergne of Westlake; nine grandchildren, Joe Royer of Austin, Jon Royer and wife Ashley of Taylor, TX, Jake Royer and wife Amber of Arlington, TX, April Royer, Amanda Hill and husband Travis, all of Katy, TX, Austin Smith of San Antonio, TX, Nicole and Brett Royer of Lake Charles, and Cody Royer and wife Andrea of Ragley, LA; step-grandchildren, Jamie Monceaux and Jennifer McPheeters; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler, Noah, Claire, Chase, Link, Annabelle, Landon, Madelyn and Grayson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Marie Richard Lavergne; brothers, Leroy Lavergne and Martin Lavergne; and sisters, Elizabeth Comeaux, Lovenia Quibodeaux, and Nell Rose Wright.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM.
