Orian “Tutu” Thomas Rider, 71, passed away in Lake Charles on August 29, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Rider was born on January 11, 1946 to Orian and Ruby Hebert Rider in Lake Charles. He will be remembered as a jack-of-all-trades. In his earlier years he worked as a mechanic, finished sheetrock, and was a talented artist. Mr. Rider also enjoyed entertaining friends and family while playing the accordion, and the harmonica. He will be remembered through his painted artwork and cypress carvings that he took such pride in.
Mr. Rider is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Brown Rider; son, Edwin “Keith” Rider; daughters, Margaret Rider, and Cheryl and husband Randy Bond; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dores Rider; grandchildren, Orian and Rennia Mercer; and siblings, Florine Aquillard, Betty-Jean Fontenot, and Gloria Woodard.
Mr. Rider’s service of remembrance will be at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin that afternoon at 3:00 PM and continue after the service until 7:00PM.
