Orlean Ann Gary, 87, of Lake Charles died at 12:40 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 in her residence.
Mrs. Gary was born on April 11, 1926 in Maurice, LA and resided in the Moss Bluff/Lake Charles area all of her life. She was a dedicated stay at home wife and mother to her husband and eight children. Mrs. Gary was an Avon sales representative for many years. She was of the Catholic Faith.
She enjoyed many things in life including quilting, sewing, and cooking for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, John James Gary, Sr.; seven children and their spouses, Roland and Candace Sarvaunt, Sheila and Tanas Newman, and Dale Sarvaunt and Sylva Zubia all of Lake Charles, Sandra and Harold Miller of Evangeline, Catherine Cat and Alton Hurst of Lake Charles, Jeanette and James Gueringer and Johnny and Kathy Gary all of Moss Bluff; a sister, Bunice Broussard of Lake Charles; 30 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Ettienette Broussard; a daughter, Sylvia Sarvaunt; a grandson, Josh Fuselier; 9 brothers; and 6 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Ravey Parsley Cemetery in Evangeline, LA. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM led by the Junior Catholic Daughters of St. Theodore Catholic Church. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the services.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Brighton Bridge Hospice, especially Melinda Kellar and Meggan Hillman and also to the granddaughters, Amanda Dennis, Heather Hurst, and Laken Mallett for their help and care during Mrs. Gary's illness.
