Orville Allen "Mark" Anthony, 85, of Moss Bluff, La. moved to Heaven on Sunday, October 15,2017 at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital. Also known as "PaPaw" to his grandchildren and the many kids from his babysitting days. He was born in Sonora,Texas and after high school he joined the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Biloxi and then Chennault Airbase. He was deployed and fought in the Korean War before returning to Lake Charles. During his duty at Chennault he met the love of his life and married Helen Jeanette Kingrey and together they raised four children.
He retired as an Operator from Cities Service where his co-workers knew him as "Mark". He and his wife owned and operated Ruff N Reddy Daycare and Nason's Western Wear in Moss Bluff. He was very active with Dixie Youth and followed his children and grandchildren's sporting events as well as all the children they babysat. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff.
He is survived by his four children, Margaret (Terry) LeDoux; Cindy (Russell) Haman; Mark Anthony and Susan (Troy) Manuel. Grandchildren Chris (Jodi) LeDoux; Amber (Jonathan) Foraker; Violet (Mark) Atkinson; Dr. Tim (Jordan) Haman; Tommy Haman; Jake (Meredith) Anthony; Great Grandchildren Katie, Kaleb, Kadence, Taylor, Canaan, Raelan, Adleigh, Amelia, Abigail, Isabelle, Hayden, Max, Luke and Easton. Great Great Grandchild Olivia. His sister Nancy (Tony) Frerich, sister in law Vercie (Richard) Smith and Christine (Wallace) Anthony and 14 nieces and nephews. Close family friend and unofficially adopted daughter Julie Bech Broussard and her children Lindsey, Austin, Bailey and Morgan. Also a special thanks to the staff at Grand Cove, our special angels, Shawn, Brittany, Polly, Courtney, Mary, and Monica.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Helen Anthony; parents Walter and Mary Anthony and brother Wallace Anthony.
His funeral will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Johnson's Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The Revs. Norman Crisp and Wilton Anthony will officiate. Burial will be in Creel Memorial Gardens in Bel, La. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5-8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to St. Jude's
