Pamela Ann Lennox Tynes

Pamela Ann Lennox Tynes, 62, of Sulphur, LA died at 10:00 PM on Monday, July 4, 2011 in a Houston, TX hospital.


Mrs. Tynes was born August 10, 1948 in New Orleans, LA, and after getting married lived in Moss Bluff for about 6 years, and then north of Sulphur for the past thirty-four years. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School, attended USL in Lafayette, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma. In 2008, she graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelor's degree in General Studies and Associates Degree in Art. She enjoyed working as a substitute teacher at S. J. Welsh Middle School and Barbe High School. Mrs. Tynes was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, where she was a dedicated member of the Prayer Warriors Team and Caring Ministry. As a busy member of the Junior League of Lake Charles she worked on the first edition of the Pirate's Pantry cookbook, and later became a Sustainer in the League. Physical fitness and good health was most important, leading her to compete in triathlons. Supporting the YMCA, she served on its Board and as President. Mrs. Tynes was a founding member of CLEAN (Calcasieu League for Environmental Action Now), the Louisiana Head Injury Foundation, and the original Lake Charles Racquet Club. An avid painter, she enjoyed watercolor and portrait artistry and participated in various art groups throughout the years. Mrs. Tynes will always be remembered as a health food and nutrition enthusiast, and helped to form the Community Food Co-op. A loving wife, giving mother, and supportive grandmother, she always put others before herself. As a longtime cancer survivor, she counseled many in need. She was truly selfless, often drawing people closer to her faith by example.


Mrs. Tynes is survived by her husband of forty years, Maurice Lane Tynes of Sulphur; three daughters, Kelsey Forry and husband Shannon of Burbank, CA, Jan Claire Rosenfield and husband Robert of New Orleans, and Caroline Wright and husband Jason of Sulphur; parents, Thomas Newman Lennox and Claire Mae Zander Lennox of Covington, LA, to whom she was very devoted; twin brother, Patrick Lennox and wife Anne of Atlanta, GA; sister, Jean Norton and husband Bill of New Orleans; brother, Wade Lennox and wife Kim of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Michael Lane Forry, Etta Forry, Jackson Forry (newly born July 5, 2011), and Berkley Ann Wright; along with numerous adored nieces, nephews, and cousins.


She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Noelie Marie Zibilich Zander, with whom she shared a special relationship.





Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 AM until the start of the service. Friends and family are invited to gather in Paxton Hall within the church building immediately after the service. Private interment will be at a later time.
