Pam entered this life on September 24, 1946 born to Charles and Johnnie Mae Parker Riggs. She grew up in Hackberry, Louisiana, and was a 1964 graduate of Hackberry High School. While in high school, Pam was a cheerleader, played basketball, and was chosen as the Homecoming Queen. She also had the honor of being selected as Miss Cameron Parish in 1963. Pam began her college career at LSU, where she loved cheering for her Fighting Tigers! She later transferred to McNeese State College, where she graduated with a B.S. in Business Education and a Minor in English Education. She then began her teaching career at South Cameron High School, where many of her former students still remember her fondly as their teacher. She later transferred to Hackberry High School where she continued teaching Business Education. While teaching and raising her family, and with her Mother's encouragement, Pam continued her education working toward her Master's. She received her Master's Degree + 30, in Education and Supervision, and in 1974 she became the High School Principal at Hackberry High. After 21 successful years as a High School Principal, Pam was selected as the Cameron Parish Superintendent of Education. After a 31 year career serving her beloved Cameron Parish, she retired and decided it was time to enjoy a slower paced life. During her time as Principal and Superintendent, Pam touched many people with her generous heart, and strong leadership. Since her retirement, she has enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and playing Bingo. Her family meant the world to her, and she was always a rock to those who knew her and dearly loved her. She took great delight in watching her grandchildren grow up, and took pride in seeing her grandson, Hayden Galloway, begin his college career at LSU this fall. Her granddaughter's Madison Rider, and Ella Daigle also held very special places in her heart. Pam was called home by her Heavenly Father, on Sunday, October 4, 2015. She leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Michael LaFleur. Also, left to cherish her memories are her children, Tressa LaFleur Daigle, and husband Brad of Sulphur, Jeri LaFleur Rider of Moss Bluff, and Johnny LaFleur of Lake Charles. Her beloved grandchildren, Hayden Galloway, Madison Rider, and Ella Daigle. She also leaves behind her siblings, Gail Cloud, Tom Riggs and wife Chris, and Penny Michalko and her husband Eddie. Pam also had loving In-Laws, Brother and Sister In-Laws, and numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 7th at 1:00 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Burial to follow in New Hackberry Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:00 pm, and will continue at 10:00 am until time of service.
