Patricia Anne Berniard

Patricia Anne Walters Berniard, 68, of Lake Charles, LA passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was a very loving mom and grandmother. Anne was a stay at home mom who spent much of her time and energy doting on her children. She was a fantastic cook who not only had a huge homemade dinner cooked each night but an after school snack prepared for her children each day. After her children grew older, she spent many years as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Junior League Chapter in Lake Charles and enjoyed being involved with the singing group that entertained others. She was loved greatly and will be missed terribly by her family and friends. Ms. Berniard is survived by her daughter, Valerie Berniard Quary and husband Chris of Lafayette, LA; sons, Benjamin Berniard of California, Stevie Berniard of Lake Charles, LA, and Jeff Berniard and wife Melissa of New Orleans, LA; brother, John Walters and wife Cheryl of Manhattan, KS and Jim Walters of Colorado Spring, CO; and grandchildren, Jimmy Quary, Julia Quary, Banks Berniard and Birdie Berniard. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary O'Laughlin Walters. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Ms. Berniard's caregivers, Ruthie Jones, Vickie Montgomery, and Willie Rideaux for their special care and compassion given during this time. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. The Rev. Nathan Long will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.
