Patricia "Pat" King Babineaux

Patricia "Pat" King Babineaux, 74, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. She was born on May 7, 1950, and raised in Sulphur, Louisiana. Pat lived a life full of love, family, and kindness. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1968 and soon after was employed as a respiratory therapist at Cal-Cam Hospital. One day, while attending a McNeese football game, Pat met the love of her life, Thomas Carlton Babineaux. They married on January 24, 1970, and spent the next 54 years side by side, building a life and family together.

After they started their family, Pat made the choice to stay home, devoting herself as a homemaker. Known for her incredible sewing and crafting skills, she made clothes, Christmas stockings, and tree skirts that brought joy to friends and family. Pat was also deeply involved in her community. She served as an officer in Families Anonymous, a support group associated with Alcoholics Anonymous, was an active member of the Junior League of Lake Charles, and often volunteered as a room parent at her children's schools. She was a dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic Church for over 20 years.

Of all her roles, Pat's favorite was being a grandmother and great-grandmother, always finding ways to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat's life was a true example of love and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Carlton Babineaux; her two sisters, Sharon Demeritt and Gwen McFarlain; her sister-in-law, Mary King; her three children, Melony Bergeron, Neil Babineaux (Lanette), and Brian Babineaux; her grandchildren, Briana Babineaux Simon (Skylar), Payton Bergeron, Brant Bergeron, Blake Bergeron, and Noah Poe; and her three great-grandchildren, Briar, Colt, and Kansas.

A memorial service to honor Pat will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will be open to the public on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Following the service, Pat will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
