Patricia Stough

May 27, 1937 — February 17, 2025

Patricia H. Stough, 87, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Born on May 27, 1937, in Borger, TX, to Earl Hardee and Eleanor Tousinau Hardee, Patricia spent much of her childhood in Lake Charles before graduating from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe in 1955. She went on to attend Louisiana Tech University, where she earned her degree in education.

The love story of Patricia and Allen Stough was one of true devotion. They first met in middle school and, despite life briefly leading them in different directions, their hearts never strayed. Their love rekindled at Louisiana Tech, and they secretly married before she completed her degree. From that moment on, Patricia's greatest joy was being by Allen's side, supporting him through his career in the Navy and at Conoco, and building a beautiful life together. Their journey took them to Virginia, then back to Lake Charles, before settling in Corpus Christi in the late 1980s. In 2019, she returned to Lake Charles, where she spent her remaining years surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Patricia's greatest role-one she longed for and wholeheartedly embraced-was that of a mother. In her 30s, she and Allen adopted their two children, Joey and Martha, and from that moment forward, they became the center of her world. Her love knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself completely to nurturing and supporting her children. That love only grew with the arrival of her grandchildren, Kacie, Keagan, Madison, Kallen, and Jolie, who cherished her deeply. She had a way of making everyone feel special, seen, and unconditionally loved.

Patricia had a warmth and kindness that drew people to her. She was generous, compassionate, and always found ways to give back, whether through volunteer work with the Salvation Army or simply by offering a listening ear and an open heart to those in need. She found great joy in playing Bridge, a game she not only loved but used as a way to build lasting friendships. When she returned to Lake Charles, the Bridge community at the Lake Charles Bridge Club quickly welcomed her, and she became a beloved part of their circle, playing multiple times a week. She was also a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she built friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Martha Stough and Joey Stough (Jena); her grandchildren, Kacie Lynn Hoops, Madison Pauls, Kallen Stough, and Jolie Stough. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Allen, her parents, and her grandson, Keagan Riley Hoops.

Patricia's funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, officiated by Reverend Marcus Wade. Burial will follow in Sallier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.

Though Patricia has left this world, the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was the heart of her family, a constant source of warmth and comfort, and she will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Duncan Wells, Joe Stough, Matt Alexander, Trent Pauls, Bryan Clawson and Damon Rapp.
