Patricia Wozniak

Patricia Wozniak, 69, of Sulphur, LA passed away in her residence on Monday, April 29, 2019, in the presence of her loving husband. Patricia was born on January 2, 1950, in Lake Charles, LA to Henry and Shirley Moon Hilliard.

Pat was first and foremost driven in life by the desire to be in God’s will. Her desire was for the children and being able to teach Children’s Sunday school was one of her greatest fulfillments. In her high Scholl and college days, Pat was immersed in the French horn. She started as music major in college but life led her elsewhere. She had a continuing love of music, especially classical and Christian. Pat worked at the Citgo Refinery for approximately 10 years, following in the footsteps of her father who was a long time employee there.

Pat also had other great interests in the heavens as in astronomy and space travel. She like to attend astronomical Star Parties and liked to be called her husband’s “Astronomy Assistant”. She traveled with her husband to several NASA sites around the country and kept a watch on where the Voyager Spacecraft are now as they exit our Solar System.

She also enjoyed sewing, and cross-stitch early in life and cooking.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Henry “Hank” Hilliard and Shirley Moon Hilliard. She is also preceded in death by her grandson Rory McHaffie.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 18 years, Walter Wozniak. She also leaves her children Jennifer McHaffie, and her husband Jason McHaffie, her son Kenny O’Quain, daughter in law Mandy Shipp, Cora Jones and her husband, Gabriel Jones. Those who will especially miss her are her nine grandchildren: Aeric Cameron, Annika and Sirius Jones, Dagan and Kade O’Quain, Colin, Molly, and Meghan McHaffie. She also leaves her brothers, David and Michael Hilliard.

The family will receive friends at Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home, 3448 5^th Avenue, Lake Charles, LA on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 9-11AM. The funeral service will begin at 11AM officiated by Reverend Bo Harger. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South under the direction of Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home.
