Patsy Carpenter Neil Benoit

Patsy Carpenter Neil Benoit, 83, passed away on March 10, 2022 in a local hospital.

She was born on March 30, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA to William Austin and Beulah Trouard Carpenter. She graduated from Marion High School where she was on the drill team before obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from McNeese State University and enjoying a 20 year career as a teacher and later principal at Barbe Elementary School in Lake Charles. Patsy served as Regent in the Catholic Daughters. She was awarded Catholic Daughter of the Year during her time of service. She enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies and great grandbabies, traveling, buying jewelry, and watching Fox News and Hallmark movies.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Melody Neil Hartwell (Dennis) and Craig Alan Neil; grandchildren, Christin Martin (John), Lyndon Hartwell (Devin), Justin Manning, and Laken Manning; and great grandchildren, AJ, Oakley, Cheyenne, Malcolm, Trinity, Jayden, Marley, and Daylon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Neil; grandson, Chase Austin Edwards; parents; and sister, Mary L. Carpenter.

Her funeral service will be held at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home at noon on Friday, March 11, 2022. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.

A graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in her name to the church of your choice or the American Heart Association.
