Paul A. “Buddy” Soileau, 67, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:47 PM on Sunday, October 14, 2018 in a Houston hospital.
Buddy was born on May 17, 1951 in Lake Charles where he lived all of his life and was a Lake Charles High School graduate. Following graduation, he was a machinist in the US Navy until being honorably discharged. Buddy then attended and graduated from Sowela Tech before beginning his career with PPG as a machinist, retiring 33 years later.
He was a devout Catholic and die hard LSU fan as well as an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman. Buddy was a member of the Woodmen of the World, VFW Post 2130, and also American Legion Post 0179 in Sulphur. For more than 40 years, Buddy pulled the chains for all LaGrange football team home games.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Faye Soileau; two daughters, Desira Mixon (Russell) and Lacie Olivier all of Lake Charles; four siblings, Sue Altenbernd (Chris) of Tampa, FL, Marie Conner of Dallas, TX, Glen Soileau of Silsbee, TX, and Bruce Soileau (Sharon) Oahu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Jayden, Dallin, and Macie; step grandchildren, Nathan, Trinity, and Kierra; mother in law, Mary Jane Guillory of Iowa; sister-in-law, Cindy Guidry of Deer Park, TX; brother-in-law, Grady Guillory, Jr. of Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernand and Emma Soileau and father-in-law, Grady Guillory, Sr.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with a cremation to follow.
