Paul Allen Brown, Sr.

August 28, 1939 — March 26, 2022

Paul Allen Brown Sr. was one of twelve children born to Isiah and Agnes "Belson" Brown. He was born August 28, 1939 in Opelousas, LA.

He attended Opelousas High School, graduating class of 1956. He possessed a strong work ethic and before graduating he began working for the school board as a bus driver. It was during a trip to work he met Joyce Leger, being the gentleman he was, offered her a ride to work. That was all it took, and in 1963 they exchanged vows.

Together they welcomed seven children and made Lake Charles their home. He began working for Lake Charles Piping Supply before accepting a job with OLIN/Lyondell where he worked for thirty-two years before retiring in 2001.

Paul was equally a provider as he was a father to his children, his hard work allowed his children to attend private schools. Over the years, he and Joyce owned several businesses: Sunshine Cleaners, Sunshine Reception Hall and Brown’s Lawn Service. His hard work never interfered with his ability to attend his children’s school events or spend quality time with his family.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, boxing, or league bowling with his team the Sunshine Cleaners on Saturdays. He reserved Sunday’s for his faith and family. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and St. Henry Catholic Church,  following every Sunday Mass he filled his home with family, where they all enjoyed his barbeque.

He was welcomed into Heaven on March 26, 2022 by; his wife of forty-eight years, Joyce; parents, Isiah and Agnes Brown; a son, John Kevin Brown; three grandchildren; brothers, Joseph, Peter, Isaac, Carol, and Samuel Brown; sisters, Ella Mae Roberts, Irene Jackson, Agnes Taylor, Adeline Brown, and Georgia Anne Baptist.
