Paul Clifford Gary, Sr., 89, of Hayes, Louisiana passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 in his residence surrounded by his loving children. Born to the late Ferdinand and Rose Gary on July 2, 1935, he devoted his life to his country and family.
After graduating from Grand Lake High School, Paul married the love of his life, the late Agnes Gary and joined the United States Army where he served for 22 years and worked in Military Intelligence for Embassies across the globe before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He then worked as a Radar Technician at an Air Force facility in Lake Charles for 20 years and for the Calcasieu Sheriff's Office for 12 years. He was a devout Catholic and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus 1207 where he served as a Fourth Degree Knight. Paul had a great love for the outdoors, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his large family. He was known for his storytelling, captivating family and friends with tales from his life-stories that will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who heard them.
Left to cherish his memory are his seven children, Hope Ellison (John), Paul Gary, Jr., Quintin Gary (Dee), Paige Gary, Patricia Gary, Bradley Gary (Laura), Catherine Guillory (Scott). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Agnes Henry Gary and parents.
Visitation will begin at 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Johnson's Funeral Home in Lake Charles. A Rosary will begin at 6:00pm and will be led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume at 11:00am until 12:30am on Monday, March 24, 2025 at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00pm on Monday, March 24, 2025 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City with Father Paul Dsa officiating. Burial will follow at Bertrand Cemetery in Hathaway, Louisiana with a military honors team to pay tribute to his service.
