Paul Duane Kitt, 93, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025. Born in Chillicothe, Missouri, on March 6, 1931, Paul moved to Sulphur, Louisiana, in 1943, where he built a life filled with love, knowledge, and service.
A passionate tennis enthusiast, Paul found great joy in the sport, both as a player and a fan. He also loved traveling and working in his yard, always finding peace in the beauty of nature. Paul's love for the outdoors took him to Louisiana State University, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in forestry. His dedication led him to a fulfilling career as an Associate Professor of Forestry at McNeese State University, where he inspired students for 32 years. After his time at LSU, Paul demonstrated his patriotism and served in the United States Air Force for two years. He served as an officer holding the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
In 1955, Paul met the love of his life, Betty, and the two were married on February 26, 1955. Their love and devotion to one another spanned an incredible 69 years. In 1956, they joined St. Michael's Episcopal Church, where they remained dedicated members for nearly seven decades.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben Randall Kitt and Mabel Lewis Kitt.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Kitt; his daughter, Diane Dalovisio (Peter) of Lake Charles; his grandchildren, Chad Dalovisio (Amber) and Andrew Dalovisio (Kristina); and his three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Peyton and Oliver Dalovisio; His son Stephen Kitt of Houston, and Stephen's daughter
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Monday February 24, 2025 at 10 am. Visitation will be open to the public at 9am and a reception at the church will follow after services. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
Paul's love for his family, his dedication to education, and his passion for the outdoors will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
