Paul Lancaster Henry II, born April 20, 1966, joined his beloved Savior on December 18, 2011, after a brief illness. The son of Gloria Henry and the late Lale Allen Henry, Paul was a resident of Moss Bluff.
A devoted husband to Angie, father to Alex and Gregory, and teacher of many, Paul lived his life with exuberance and excellence. A life-long educator, the impact he had on his students will be just one part of the legacy he leaves behind. A well-loved teacher of Social Studies at W.W. Lewis in Sulphur, Paul's competitive spirit motivated the Purple Team.
Paul was a 1984 graduate of Sam Houston High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from McNeese State University and a Master's of Education from Ole Miss. He began his teaching career at Coldwater High School in Mississippi, and then taught at Horn Lake Middle School (Horn Lake, MS), Grace St. Luke's Episcopal School (Memphis, TN), Newton Middle School (Newton, TX) and W.W. Lewis. Recently, he was ordained into ministry through Westlake First Baptist Church.
A man of strong faith, Paul was always involved in ministry. He served many churches as an interim pastor or teacher. He spent long hours studying his Bible, reading, researching and listening to other preachers. He was always prepared for whatever situation the Lord would bring to him. He showed the love of Jesus in all avenues of his life and was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.
As a father and husband, Paul always made his family a priority. For the last 18 years, he worked as a paper carrier to supplement the family income so Angie could be a full-time mother and teacher to their boys. He delivered for the American Press for the last six years. The example he set for his sons was one of diligence and commitment, to them and to hard work.
A collector of many things, Paul's students loved to help add to his extensive Coca-Cola and Snoopy collections. He amassed a large variety of items that were on display in his classroom for all to enjoy.
Left to honor his memory and carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 22 years, Angie Guidry Henry of Moss Bluff; his sons Alex and Gregory Henry of Moss Bluff; his mother Gloria Henry of Moss Bluff; one sister, Karen Veillon of Gillis; nieces Kandice, Kristen and Karley Shuff of Moss Bluff; aunts and uncles, Delaine and Clark Abercrombie, Manny and Mickey Henry, and Joanita Hadley.
Paul was reunited in Glory with his father, Lale Allen Henry, and his grandparents, Paul L. and Mabel Henry.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Reverend Steve James will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery, Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at Johnson's Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM. It will continue on Thursday at 9 AM until the start of the service.
