Paul Robert Gonzalez

Paul Robert Gonzalez, 44, of Lake Charles passed away unexpectedly at 7:09 PM on Friday, November 25, 2022 at his residence.

Paul was born on December 23, 1977 in San Antonio, Texas, where he was raised and was a graduate of San Antonio High School.  Paul moved to Lake Charles to work with the family business, Amerimex Recycling. It has been his home ever since. 

He was passionate about music and playing his guitar. His favorite band was Pantera. He was a big Batman fan. He loved his motorcycle and spent hours riding and working on it. He loved building and creating things, from amateur blacksmithing to inventive electrical devices. Paul took pride in being able to rebuild his family’s home following destruction from the recent hurricanes.

Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, Minerva and Juan Cadena of Lake Charles; son, Ryan Pereida of San Antonio; siblings, Mike Gonzalez (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Joe Cadena (Katie) of Lake Charles, Monica Cadena of Lake Charles, and Analisa Cadena (Robert Flores) of Lake Charles; nieces, Audrey, Lili, and Bella Gonzalez; and nephews, Edan, Liam, and Nico Flores.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ofelia and Ole De La Garza; paternal grandparents, Jose and Maria Cadena; and a special cousin that he considered a brother, Enrique Turrubiates.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate.  Cremation will follow the services.  Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have donations made to assist in covering outstanding expenses.
