Paul V. Taylor, Jr., was called to his heavenly reward on April 14, 2016 while at home with his family.
Mr. Taylor was born on January 12, 1927 in Sulphur, LA to Paul V. and Mabel Ellender Taylor. He graduated from Sulphur High School and attended John McNeese Junior College. He worked for thirty plus years at Cit-Con Lube Lab and was Vice-President of Administrative Services of Lake Charles from 1972 till 2006.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church serving as an usher and was also a member of OLQH’s Knights of Columbus Council #4562. He was a K.C. 4th Degree Knight, Msgr. Cramers Assembly. Mr. Taylor also was a WWII Veteran and proudly served in the Phillipines and was part of the MacArthur Occupation Forces.
Mr. Taylor served as a Boy Scout Cubmaster and as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 107. He eventually served on the Diocesan Catholic Committee for Scouting. He earned the Wood Badge, the Silver Beaver and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
He was President of the Swinging Rebel Square Dance Club 1979-1981, was Chairman of the Square Dance State Convention in 1991 and was the President of the Louisiana Square Dance Association from 1996-1999.
Husband of the late Bettye Fenner Taylor, he is the father of one son, James R. Taylor (Paula V.) of Lake Charles and one daughter, Paula S. Taylor (Jean) of Mandeville. He is survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Graham (Matthew) and Katie Stone (Josh), and five great grandchildren, Zachary and Andrew Graham, and Ethan, Luke and Claire Stone. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 18, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM rosary Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 8:45 AM until 9:45 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate services.
