Pauline M. Hunter, 86, of Lake Charles, died Sunday September 19, 2010 at a local care center.
Mrs. Hunter was born in Beaumont, Texas November 14, 1923 to Israel Jacob and Mae Pomerantz Abelman. She began her post high school education at Hunter College in New York. After graduating from there, Mrs. Hunter became a member of the Navy WAVES during World War II. Following her service to the country, Mrs. Hunter attended and graduated from the University of California, Berkley and the University of Montana. Mrs. Hunter followed her husband's career as a geologist in the oil industry, to many countries and foreign lands, always embracing the people and culture that surrounded her. She retired after a career of teaching high school English.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Thornton Hunter. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her brother, Moses Abelman, Lake Charles , seven nieces and nephews, Lenny Abelman, Harold Abelman, Henry Abelman, Danny Rosenburg, Mark Rosenburg, Bettye Philippes, Barbara Gayle, her brother and sister-in-law William and Lucille Hunter, and many dear friends.
As to Mrs. Hunter's final wishes, her remains are to be cremated and buried next to her late husband in Kemmerer, Wyoming.
